Mandy and Bailey passed away two weeks apart during the summer of 2006. Bailey’s brother Nick, who had calmly walked away when the two girls started their rampage, died in 2003, six months before our little black cat, Corrie also died.
I doubt that emotionally I’ll ever heal from those events, especially due to their proximity of time.
Ironically, Mandy and Bailey disliked each other to the very end – though I’m sure Bailey is still waiving a victory flag, as well she deserves to, having somehow managing to keep her formerly 100+ pound frame alive and happy for nearly 17 years A day doesn’t go by when I don’t miss them all.
I’m mentioning this not for sympathy, but perhaps for accuracy of the long story and more importantly, so you’ll know how well our sweethearts are adored and cared for.
Our house is filled with laughter – and the occasional screech. Three felines: Jeff, Nina and the baby, Joey, are far more amusing to watch than cable. They amuse us and frustrate us to no end – a little game of “chase sissy” at 3 a.m. anyone? But we wouldn’t have it any other way.
